The Magic Beans

We read Jack and the Beanstalk and then participated in a math investigation using jellybeans. In the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, Jack received five magic beans. We substituted beans for jellybeans and estimated how many jellybeans were in one handful. We traced our hands onto construction paper and carefully placed our jellybeans inside the cutout. We then worked with a partner to investigate how many jellybeans were in two handfuls. We had a lot of fun and Patches, our travel buddy, was there to help.
