What is the Travel Buddy Project?

A travel buddy is a soft stuffed toy that serves as a class mascot. The travel buddy travels to visit students at other schools to discover what students are learning. Each mascot will build new friendships and learn many new and exciting things about the states and schools where they visit.

Each travel buddy will record his/her adventures in a journal and send emails back to their home so that students know where the travel buddy is and what they have learned.

Each class participating in the travel buddy project will receive four travel buddy guests throughout the year. Each host classroom will build friendships with the travel buddy, take pictures, record learning experiences in a journal, and send postcards or emails back to the buddy's home so that students know where their buddy is and what he/she has been up to. At the end of each visit, the host classroom  will assist the travel buddy with his/her departure to the next destination on the travel buddy's itinerary.

This is an exciting project! Please stop by and see the many adventures of Elsie the Elephant and our Travel Buddy Guests.

Our Class Travel Buddy

Elsie is our class mascot and she is busy traveling around the country visiting other elementary schools. She will be visiting four schools during the school year and when she returns she will have loads of new and exciting things to share with us. We are looking forward to Elsie's return trip home!

During her travels, Elsie will send emails and postcards back to the class to let us know where she is and what she has been up to. We are excited about Elsie's trip and look forward to each email and postcard that she sends.

Elsie loves to be the teacher's assistant and her favorite place to
sit is the teacher's rocking chair.

Elsie also loves to play on the computer. One of her favorite  websites in our class website.

Writing is one of Elsie's favorite activities. She is writing a story
about her favorite peanutty desert.

Elsie enjoys reading in the classroom library. She is currently reading
If You Give a Mouse a Muffin
.

Have a Great Trip Elsie!
