Postcard
Procedures
Welcome
to the 2008-2009 Postcard Exchange. The postcard exchange will begin September 1,
2008. There
is only one slot open for each state and participants are accepted on a
first come, first serve basis. Should all 50 states not
respond, we will proceed as scheduled with the states who have agreed
to participate.
It
is important that each classroom fully commit to the project. Each
participant will mail 49 postcards and in turn receive 49 postcards.
Postcards can be purchased commercially or
printed on 4 x 6 index cards (I print my own cards).
Suggested postcard
topics include:
-
City,
State
-
Grade
Level
-
Class
size (number of students)
-
Trivia unique to your city/state
(state capital, state bird, state flower, etc.)
-
Topic of study
(what are you currently studying...plants, bugs, fractions, etc.)

2007-2008
Postcard Exchange
All
postcards should be mailed no later than April 1, 2009.
A
few teachers responded from last year's postcard exchange with ideas
to help with the cost of postcards and stamps:
(1) list postcards on
the school supply list (2) send a letter home to
parents asking for postcards (3) ask
businesses in the community to donate postcards
Several teachers commented on how much the students and
parents enjoyed the project. Many teachers had parents send in
both postcards and stamps (WOW!).
